2010 Rotary District 5300 Conference Jun 11, 2010 Rancho del Chino Rotary's Hospitality Suite wins "FIRST PLACE" at District 5300's Conference at Henderson, NV. RDCR receives $500 towards Polio Plus in its name. The suite was open Friday and Saturday evenings during the conference. Glenn and Cindy (Duncan) provided the decorations, Jose and Glenn provided the food and drinks and Glenn, Cindy, Jose, Andy and Gary put up the decorations for the win!

Peter Rogers reports that he signed us up for this when he was president. As you can see in the photos, we need to walk this stretch of highway a little more often.
21st Annual Bingo and Dinner Night Apr 26, 2010 Rancho del Chino Rotary and six other Chino Valley service clubs hosted this community fundraiser for three local charities. The charities chosen for this year's event were Caring for the Hills, Chino Neighborhood House and the Prescription Assistance Through Community Help (PATCH) program. Donations were also made to the Chino High and Don Lugo High Interact clubs and Isaiah's Rock for their assistance in putting on the event.

RDC Rotarians Julie Gobin, outgoing chamber chairman, Andy Ronquillo, chamber president and in-coming chamber chairman Julie Reyes. RDC Rotarian replaces another as Chamber Chairman Jun 24, 2009 RDC Rotary members are well represented on the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Outgoing chamber board chairman and RDCR member Julie Gobin term ends June 30 and she is being replaced by RDC Rotarian Julie Reyes. Julie replaced Julie at a breakfest ceremony held at Los Serranos Country Club the day before our club's annual meeting. Chamber president Andy Ronquillo is an honorary RDC Rotarian.

Ruthe Rosen's "Let It Be" book is published May 5, 2009 Rancho del Chino Rotarian, Ruthe Rosen, shares the publication of her book, "Let It Be", with the club. "Let It Be" explores a mother's journey with her daughter. The book provides inspiration as we watch Karla maintain her faith in God while she deals with her illness.

Rotary Club Project Delivers Water to 6 Schools May 5, 2009 Rancho del Chino Rotary Club closed the book last month on a project that provided potable water to six public elementary schools in the Philippines. the role of international cosponsor for a project hosted by Rotary Club of Kalookan North in Caloocan City, Metro Manila, Philippines. The project was launched April 9, 2008, for the purpose of providing cold water drinking fountains at five elementary schools where students and staff had to buy bottled drinking water on a daily basis.

Rancho del Chino Rotary and six other community service clubs raised $19,000 for distribution to designated Chino Valley charitable organizations. Bingo Night was held on April 21, 2008 at the Chino Fairgrounds. Potable Water Project Jun 24, 2008 Here are the latest photos of our water project with the Kalookan-North Rotary Club in the Philippines. It appears the facilities are either already or nearly complete. Ronnie Gamalinda is leaving soon for the Philippines on business, but he has made arrangements to visit our partner club and the project sites. We should be getting reports from him when he returns.
District 5300 Hospitality Dinner Jun 16, 2008 Rancho del Chino Rotary, Chino Rotary and Pomona Rotary host visitors from the Rotary International Convention being held in Los Angeles at the NHRA Museum in Pomona. Approximately 100 attended.

Construction Tour of new Shoppes at Chino Hills Apr 29, 2008 Rancho del Chino Rotarians receive a hard hat construction tour of the new Shoppes at Chino Hills lifestyle center scheduled for opening in May, 2008. The Shoppes will boast 300,000 square feet of retail space including Barnes & Noble, Trader Joe's, H & M, P.F. Chang's, California Pizza Kitchen, The Yard House and many more.

$4,500 in donations from Rancho del Chino Rotary and the Chino Hills High School Interact Club provided Thanksgiving turkeys for distribution by Caring for the Hills. 142 boxes of food and large turkeys were distributed as of November 20th. Caring for the Hills Nov 17, 2007 Caring for the Hills started their annual Thanksgiving food distribution this year with the financial help of Rancho del Chino Rotary and the Chino Hills High School Interact Club. Rotary and Interact each donated $2,250.
District Governor Charlie Barr Pays A Visit Nov 13, 2007 Rotary District 5300 Governor Charlie Barr and Assistant District Governor Pat Hauducoeur pay a visit to the Rancho del Chino Rotary Club. This visit is a big deal with several other district reps included in his entourage. Gov. Barr updated us on activities and programs within our district, including the Corazon house being built in Mexico and the June, 2008 Rotary International Convention to be held in Los Angeles.
Former Chino Hills Big League Dreams manager and Angels player Darrell Miller returned to the Chino Valley for breakfast with the Rancho del Chino Rotary Club. Mr. Miller left Big League Dreams two years ago to become director of Major League Baseball's Urban Youth Academy in Compton. Shopping for Charity at Sam's Club Oct 2, 2007 Rancho del Chino Rotary went shopping at Sam’s Club for its Charity Holiday Shopping Spree for the Neighborhood House and Caring for the Hills. Our club received District matching grants of $1500 to be matched with our contributions of $1500 for each entity. Each group received $2250 in merchandise and/or cash.

Concert's in the Park Corn Feed Jul 26, 2007 Rancho del Chino Rotary raises money for charitable projects, including the Wheelchair Foundation, library books for needy school libraries and the Rotary Foundation by selling fresh roasted corn on the cob to hungry concert goers during the city of Chino's weekly free concerts in the park during the summer.

The event is sponsored by several community service clubs including Rancho del Chino Rotary, Chino Rotary, Chino Kiwanis, Chino Hills Kiwanis and Soroptimists of the Chino Valley.

Easter Eggstravaganza Apr 7, 2007 Children under 12 participated in an Easter Fun Day at Chino Town Square. They had their photo taken with the Easter Bunny, colored an Easter Card, played special Easter Games and decorated an Easter Basket to fill with candy and prizes. There was even an Easter Bonnet contest. The event was sponsored by Rancho del Chino Rotary, the "S" and "Interact" clubs of Don Lugo High School and Chino Town Square Merchants.

Halloween Spooktacular 2006 Oct 28, 2006 Rancho del Chino Rotarians and Chino Town Square merchants sponsor the free Annual Halloween Spooktacular for kids. The Spooktacular provides a safe and fun environment for Trick or Treating, Costume Contest and Pumpkin Carving Contest.

Sponsorship donations have now all been collected and representatives of the two charities each received a check for $7,500. The charities are Caring for the Hills and Chino Neighborhood House. The participating service clubs are Rancho del Chino Rotary, Chino Rotary, Chino Kiwanis, Chino Hills Kiwanis and Chino Valley Soroptimists.

Approximately 500 people fill Brinderson Hall at the Chino Fairgrounds during the 17th Annual Bingo Night and Dinner. 17th Annual Bingo Night and Dinner Apr 24, 2006 Six community based service clubs, led by Rancho del Chino Rotary Bingo Committee Chairman Peter Rogers, raised approximately $15,000 for two Chino Valley charities during the 17th Annual Bingo Night and Dinner. The charities, Chino Neighborhood House and Caring for the Hills, will split the net proceeds. In addition to Rancho del Chino Rotary, the participating service clubs included Chino Rotary, the Soroptimist Clubs of Chino and Chino Hills and the Kiwanis Clubs of Chino and Chino Hills.
SMILE! The Easter Bunny was very popular. Easter Fun Day at Chino Town Square Apr 15, 2006 Rancho del Chino Rotarians and the Don Lugo High School "S" Club in cooperation with Chino Town Square Shopping Center provide a little pre-Easter fun for young children. Activities included Easter themed crafts, face-painting, games, candy and a photo op with the Easter Bunny ($3 if we took the picture. Monies collected went to the "S" Club).

 Rotarians visit China with Chamber Mar 10, 2006 Rotarians from Rancho del Chino and Chino clubs, Andy Ronquillo, Leo Romo, Wayne Scaggs and Peter Rogers hold copies of their hometown newspaper, The Champion, while standing in front of the world's fastest train during a visit to China with a delegation from the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce in March. These fast-tracking Rotarians boarded the magnetic-levitation train to Shanghai and attained a maximum speed of 259 mph during their trip.

RDC Rotarians staff the Hamburger Meal Deal booth. Freedom Celebration Jul 2, 2005 Rancho del Chino Rotary helps to support the annual Freedom Celebration as a sponsor. The Freedom Celebration provides a free fireworks show for the entire family on the Saturday before the 4th of July at Chino High School. As part of the club's sponsorship, we sell a Meal Deal for lunch or dinner for just $5. The deal includes a BBQ hamburger (or cheese burger), chips and a drink. Everyone pitches in to staff the booth in three hour shifts. The Freedom Celebration is organized by Inland Community Church.
2005 Debunking Jun 23, 2005 No mercy was shown to outgoing RDC Rotary Club president Bruce Wood. We honored Bruce in true Rotary form - he was mocked, imitated, verbally flogged, bashed, ribbed, roasted...honored and thanked for his contributions of the past year. We will let the photos tell the story.
1st Annual RDC Golf Tourney May 9, 2005 Patrick Glover actually pulled it off. (Not that we had any doubt.) Rancho Del Chino's first golf tournement at Sierra Lakes CC was a resounding success according to all attending. Glenn Duncan paved the way and Pat gets a "high five" for a job well done. Safety tip: with a golf club in Preston Carr's hands, no place was safe to stand.
Salute to Safety May 3, 2005 Mimi's Cafe was the safest place in town on 5/3/05 as RDC Rotary held it's annual Salute to Safety program. The highlight of the morning was the presentation of the Officers of the Year Award to Chino police Corporal David Villaran and Chino Hills sheriff Deputy Rielly Clancy. Other guests included Supervisor Gary Ovitt, Chino Hills Mayor Bill Kruger and Councilmember Curt Hagman, Chino Councilmember Earl Elrod, Chino police Chief Gene Hernandez and Chino Hills sheriff Captain Rick Carr.

Holiday Food Baskets Dec 18, 2004 Every year RDC Rotary members deliver food baskets to needy families the Saturday before Christmas. This year RDC Rotary delivered food baskets and boxes of children's toys to 46 needy families with 160 children in their households.

Activities include a costume contest for various ages and a pumpkin carving contest.
